The ongoing war in Syria made millions of people flee their lives. Syrians started a life-saving – or not – journey to Europe and they are only find harsh conditions and unsafety every step of the way. Their goal is a better life. There only tool, patience.
This photo story takes place around four important spots of transition for Syrian war refugees. Jordan, Lesvos, Piraeus and Idomeni.
“Anamoni” is the greek word for “Waiting”
“I am waiting. Don’t ask why. /Don’t ask why anyone/who has nothing to wait for/would wait anyway. Still he does. For if he stops waiting/ it is as if he stops looking at the sky/ stops hoping/ stops living. It’s unbearable. it’s bitter./ Slowly approaching the beach/ not as the castaway/ not as the savior/ but as the wreck.”
